I really didn't expect to have another finish in 2012 but I found myself in my stitching spot on Christmas Eve with nothing ready to stitch.  I had planned for this to be my New Year's start: Lizzie Kate Inspiration Boxer BK35 - Not all of us  As you can see, it didn't make it to 2013.  :o)  I am thinking of using the homespun you see to border it and then frame it.  What do you think?  Now I have to come up with something else for my New Year's start. Speaking of 2013 - what are your stitching plans for the New Year?  I am trying to come up with a list of some medium sized projects I would like to complete this year.  "Not all of us" was one of them.  With Thy Needle's "Bird Pinkeep" is on the list as is Notforgotten Farm's "Halloween Queen".  I would like to do another good sized sampler but nothing is really striking my fancy right now.  There will surely be lots of smalls on the list and I would like to reaffirm my somewhat...

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on the little designs I shared.  I would love to see pictures if any of you decide to stitch them.  Last night I finished up the last Christmas ornament I plan to stitch this year. My "theme" this holiday season has been one of Peace.  I used this word in the stitchy gifts I gave to friends and family this year and to me that simple word speaks volumes.  I wish that I could send each and every one of you a little something to let you know how much I appreciate your comments, kind thoughts and encouragement.  Since I realize that is impossible I would like to share with you my two little designs in the hopes that you might decide to stitch them up and find a little peace yourself while doing so. Last night we had our Christmas gathering at work.  We decided to do something a little different this year.  We gathered at a place called Wine and Design where we proceeded to paint a portrait of our pet.  Some of you may recall that I did a portrait of Lola this past September at another studio.  For this portrait I chose to paint my old girl Glitter. I think she was more difficult to capture in paint than Lola.  We had a great time and felt we went home with a treasure.  We were also gifted a wonderful tote from Land's End.   Since today was a rainy, dreary one I decided to finish up this little Christmas quilt.   I have had these hourglass blocks cut out for a couple of months and just kept getting distracted when it came to sewing them up.  I really like the primitive look and it is already hanging on the wall by my small Christmas tree.   The mail this week brought a couple of treats.  :o)   Mindi sent a lovely Christma...

Hello dear friends!  I hope you are all well and enjoying the spirit of the season.  I have been experiencing a spirit of another sort.  This could be me at any given moment of any day:   Remember her?  It's the little girl from the movie Firestarter who is able to make things spontaneously combust.  Well in my case, I am the thing that is about to spontaneously combust.  I am speaking of hot flashes only in my case they should be called ohmygoshhelpmeIamseriouslyburningupabouttodiesweatingcan'tbreathe flashes! Hello dear friends!  I just can't believe December is here.  Our temps were in the upper 60's today - sure doesn't feel like December. I had big plans to drag out the Christmas tree and decorations and deck the halls today but Mr. Big Bad Migrane came to visit and the hall decking didn't happen.  I did putter around and finished a wee ornament. Sled and pattern from dixiedarlin.com After seeing these little sleds on several blogs I just had to get some of them and start stitching.  They are just the cutest things and will make a nice addition to my tree. Earlier today while doing some mindless surfing I started looking at trencher bowls.  Looking at them and seeing the prices reminded me that I had a couple of unfinished wood bowls given to me by my mother years ago.  Out to the storage building I went.  Luck was on my side and I found one of them in the very first box I opened.  A bit of Briwax and a lot of elbow grease later...
