Welcoming the New Year

Final 2013 Finishes

Image
I wanted to pop back in before 2014 and share my last two finishes of the year.   I spent some time finishing today and here are the results:   "Mary's Sampler" finished as a pillow.  I kept this simple and just added brown chenille trim.   "Peace" by Blackbird Designs -- in the 2013 JCS Ornament Issue I decided to frame this one instead of making it into an ornament.  This way I can display it all year.     I just love that big ole dove!   I spent the afternoon sorting and organizing my charts.  They were such a mess.  I have several things that need to be relocated so look for some chart giveaways soon.   I also kitted up my New Year's start for 2014 - Lone Elm Lane's "Snow Angel".   Do you start a new project for the new year?  I would love to hear what you are going to be stitching.

Busy, busy, busy

Hello friends!  It is such a busy time of year, isn't it?  I am enjoying all the hustle and bustle but I find myself looking forward to the quiet downtime that comes with January. This past weekend was a fun one.  The Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild had our Christmas meeting on Saturday which consisted of a wonderful breakfast followed by a freebie chart exchange.  Thank you Elizabeth for being our hostess with the mostest and welcoming us into your lovely home.  Chris took wonderful photos so please head over to our blog and have a look. On Sunday, I met Chris for breakfast and to give her a few little Christmas gifts.  Here is what I made her:   A dear friend had gifted me with 2 of these old mill spools and I had been saving them just waiting for the perfect use for them.  You may remember my post trying to obtain the perfect round sewn snowman head.  Well, this is where that head rests now.  :o)   I added a few little details...

Cardinals!

Image
Those of you who have read my blog for any length of time know of my affinity for cardinals.  What can I say?  I love them.  This week dear, sweet Shirlee  surprised me with not one...not two...but three pieces of lovely cardinalness.  (   Isn't this ornament just perfect?  I love the little pinecone and greenery at the top and the rick rack looks like an icing made of snow.    As if that wasn't enough she also sent me Just Nan's Cardinal Tweet kit and 5 pieces of fabric for finishing.  I feel like Santa has already arrived.  :o)  Thanks again Shirlee and my sincere thanks also to that extra special helper you have.  ;o)   Our Sampler Guild is having our Christmas breakfast tomorrow.  Should be fun!   Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!

A Gift

Hello friends! Are you about ready for Christmas?  I have plenty of spirit but not plenty of time these days it seems.  I have been enjoying reading all your lovely posts.  So many pretty things to see and so much inspiration!  Thank you for sharing. I was surprised this week with a gift in my mail from Cindy .   I had admired this design and just love the beads on the boughs.  So pretty!  The finishing fabric and trim matches it just perfectly.  Thank you so much Cindy!   I have another busy day at work tomorrow and a busy weekend ahead.  I hope you all are enjoying all the gifts this season has to offer.     Goodnight!
