My vegetable garden isn't doing so well but my herb garden has really taken off.  I thought I would share some pictures with you on this gorgeous Sunday. Cilantro Lavender  Oregano   Italian Parsley   Rosemary  Thyme  But wait!   What was that other strange plant I saw amongst the Rosemary? Bwahahahaha!  It's my ort jar trying to disguise itself as a flower!  :o) Happy Sunday All!

Today, Chris and I took a quick road trip to Salisbury.  We were going to Spring Robin to pick up my framing and to see what else might catch our eye.  Robin has a wonderful little shop and if you are in the area you really must stop in.  Just check out this handome fellow that came home with me:  "Segei" Plum Street Samplers  I used restraint and didn't come home with any stash additions, however, I did leave Penny America there to be framed. We had a wonderful Greek Salad with chicken for lunch at the Sidewalk Deli and then headed down the road to Granite Quarry, NC where we toured the Old Stone House. Our State magazine and UNCTV published a wonderful video on this state treasure which can tell you all about the house much more eloquently than I.  The video can be found here . We saw my other son graduate yesterday.  The ceremony was scheduled to take place outside but mother nature had a thing or two to say about that and it had to be moved inside due to rain.  We are so very proud of him and are looking forward to supporting him as he goes on to attend UNCG this fall. I couldn't get a good photo with all the rain and crowd at the ceremony so I had to settle for a quick snap when we got back home.  Chis gifted me with a Bent Creek "United"  kit at our Sampler Guild meeting and I finished the stitching last night. I thoroughly enjoyed stitching on this 18 ct linen with that big ole perle cotton. Cute, isn't it?  I had thought to put this in a 5x7 frame but it is just a tad too large.  Now I have to decide how to finish it.  Suggestions?? Oh, almost forgot.  The winner of the Summer Garden pattern is June!   I wish I had a pattern for all of you.  Perhaps June will pass it on too once she stitches it. Hav...

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my son's graduation photo.  I am still just beaming with pride.  :o)  Some of you didn't realize I had twins.  They are fraternal twin boys (some have said they are mirror image twins but I don't know about all that) and are now 24 years old.  We had a late frost a couple of weeks ago that pretty much ruined my tomato and cucumber plants but that didn't stop me from "planting" a garden of a different sort. "Summer Garden" Little House Needleworks CC floss supplied in kit This finished up to be a rather large pillow - 10"x10" square.  The fabric you see at the bottom of the pillow is also used for the backing.  It really brightens my mantle. Today I watched my son receive his Bachelor's Degree in History from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  We are so proud of him.  :o) Next week we will watch his twin brother receive his degree.  We are wishing them both the best in their very bright futures.

Hello Friends!  DH and I took a day trip to Salisbury today.  I wanted to visit Spring Robin and take Sergei along for framing.  I did a little research and found a few other things to do while we were there. Spring Robin Cross Stitch was wonderful and Robin was so nice and helpful.  Her prices on framing are very reasonable and she has lots of choices in moldings.   There was a wonderful mural across the street from her shop. Spring Robin also has a large selection of charts and supplies.  I managed to pick up just a few things to add to my stash.  :o) While we were there we took a driving tour of the Historic National Cemetery and the Confederate Prison site.  We also took a tour of the Dr. Josephus Hall House . It was really nice for the two of us to get out of town and do something together without feeling rushed to get back home.  I highly recommend a visit to this wonderful old city that is full of southern history....

Hello dear friends!  We are getting some much needed rain today and I have enjoyed being inside and puttering around the sewing machine.  Yesterday I attended a sampler guild meeting which I enjoyed immensely.  Chris is one of the founders of the group and gave  a fabulous presentation on "Carolina Girls".   She spoke at length about Southern Schoolgirl Samplers (or the lack therof) and presented some wonderful and enlightening visuals.  It really inspired me to do some more research on the history of needlework in my area and I am already looking forward to our next meeting.  Hopefully, they will allow me to become a full fledged member.  :o) I remembered to take a picture for the Totally Useless SAL this month: Now it's time to settle in for some stitching.  I hope you all enjoyed a great weekend and are looking forward to a fabulous week.  Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments!
