First I want to thank all of you who left a comment on my last post and for all the birthday wishes.  Ya'll sure know how to make a girl smile. My birthday celebration actually started on Friday with a package from my friend Vera. She sent these wonderful Halloweenie Weeks flosses, felted soap and these antique spindles.  The soap smells wonderful and I can't wait to give it a go.  The label says wool has antifungal properties - who knew?  Now I hope there isn't a fungus among us but if there is I am all set.  ;o)  I had an idea for the spindles and couldn't wait to choose some pumpkin colored wool while I was at Lone Star Merchantile.  Wanna see what I did with one of the spindles? Meet Jack!  I was inspired by the toothy cat I saw on one of the kits at Lone Star.  Stay tuned...another of the spindles might be wearing a cat next time you see it. My family showered me with gifts on Saturday morning.  The sons gave me my very own tool box...

Greetings Friends!  Yesterday was the first day of fall and know what else???  It was my 49th birthday.  I don't know how the heck all those years "happened" but I guess I'll have to just roll with it!  LOL My dear friend Chris had planned a special road trip for us to Lone Star Merchantile in Fuqay-Varina.  Chris always manages to make me feel oh so special on my birthday.  My chauffeur.  ;o)  The Halloween display at Lone Star - I spent most of my time in this room.   There were so many little detailed things my brain could barely process it all. I wanted all of these guys to come live with me. My budget demanded that I maintain some restraint but I came home with these lovelies.  A few pieces of fabric for finishing, some wools, and a fabulous patchwork/wool applique pillow kit. If you are ever in the area you do not want to miss this shop.  The staff was very helpful and friendly and their kits and supplies were top notch....

Howdy friends!  I miss visiting your blogs and chatting with you so much.  Life hasn't slowed down one bit and when I have a spare minute I try to put in a few stitches instead of jumping on the computer.  I hope you all understand and I will be back to visiting on a daily basis soon. Is there a nip in the air where you live?  There sure was in NC this weekend which put me in the mood to pull out my fall/Halloween decorations.  This is the first weekend I have had off in about a month so I tried to make the most of those 2 glorious days. I just love this metal crow I picked up last year at the after Halloween 75% off sale at Hobby Lobby.  The Halloween tree is up! I had hoped to have all the LK Rules made into ornaments but it just didn't happen.  I did manage to finish this one giving me a total of 3 so far this year. Needing a quick Christmas fix, I designed, stitched, and finished a couple of small Christmas pieces. I have a birthday coming up ...

Hello!  I hope you all were able to enjoy lovely weather like we had here in NC this weekend.  Yesterday had me wishing for autumn.  It was overcast and cool with a glorious breeze blowing.  I can feel that Autumn and Halloween stitching calling to me.  :o) I have a finish to show you.  "Believe" Hinzeit 36 ct linen/DMC floss  I couldn't get a great picture of the full piece as it is so long and skinny.  The shuttle frame is by Kay's Frames and I just love it.  Even though it has the feel of a winter piece I plan to display it year round.  "Believe" can be applied to our daily life in so many ways - Believe in yourself, Believe in the Lord, Believe it can happen....and the list goes on.  I haven't yet decided where I will hang it.  For now it is resting on a table with a few other things I have on display right now. I am off to give Lola a bath and then maybe dig through my stash to find my next small to stitch. Wishing you all a won...

Howdy friends and neighbors.  It has been a while since I posted - so much going on with work and life.  The Olympics came and went - weren't they great?!  My son says almost every day "I wish the Olympics were still on."  I didn't choose a special project for the Olympics, instead I stitched on and finally finished this: By The Bay Needleart Mystery 28 ct Antique White Linen/DMC floss I found the frame at Hobby Lobby that matches the greens in piece perfectly.  Thanks to Donna for conducting such a wonderful Mystery SAL. I am now working on one of the Hinzeit designs for the shuttle I bought and should have a finish on it in the next week or so.  My stitching plans have been seriously interrupted by my work schedule.  I have hopes this crazy work schedule will resolve in about another month and I can get back to my stitching and blogging.  I managed to visit about a third of the blogs in my reader today and will try to get around to seeing a...

Hello dear friends!  Thank you for all the wonderful, encouraging comments on my Penny America finish and my little sewing cases.  You just make me want to keep creating.  :o) I think the title of this post says it all.  If you live anywhere in the US right now you know what I mean.  I am ever so thankful for air conditioning.  I do believe I will be making this pasta salad today - something cool and refreshing needs to be on my menu this week and from the looks of it this will make a good addition to my lunch for the rest of the week. Yes dear friends, like most of you we have been having some wonderful bright, sunshiney days.  Unfortunately, the last few have been very HOT!  So, I have been staying inside and sewing a bit. I had an idea to make these stitching/sewing cases.  They are perfect to use with project bags as they help keep your needfuls together so you don't have to go digging around in your bag for them.  Each one is a little different but they all have a place to tuck your scissors, a package (or two) of needles, a spool of thread or several skiens of floss, and they have a wool needle page on which to park your needle.  I even made a couple of matching fobs for the blue ones.  I do plan to sell some of these.  If you are interested, please email me.  $15.00 plus postage - email address is in my profile.
