I finished my "Merry & Bright" ornament and since Maureen said she was trying to put together a collection of stitched ornaments when she won my giveaway, I sent it off to her.  I chose a simple pillow finish with a pretty corded trim.   I finished this several weeks ago but since it was a gift I couldn't show it until now. (Photo borrowed from Chris' blog because I am a dork and forgot to take a picture.)   I designed a little piece which incorporated her initial and made it into a pendant using a pocket watch case found in the scrapbooking section of Hobby Lobby.  I added a little pizzazz with a heart and key charm.  :o)   I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving this week, I wish you bounty and blessings and good times with family and friends.

Today Chris and I headed down to Lone Star Merchantile for their Christmas open house.  We met a friend of Chris's there (Hi Susan!) and let the browsing and shopping commence.  They had lots of neat prim Christmas things, fabrics galore, and as always the staff was very helpful and friendly.  I dorked out and didn't take a single picture inside the shop.  They have several pictures posted on their blog which are much better than any I would have taken so head on over there and have a look. I did manage to get this picture of Chris while we were there.  We were also having a belated birthday celebration since we were unable to meet up before her special day.  I didn't tell her but I want that orange shirt she's wearing.  :o)   Afterwards we had a wonderful lunch and I really enjoyed talking and laughing with Susan and Chris.  Time spent with like minded ladies is just priceless!   Wanna see my goodies?   Hand dyed wool, tarnished t...

On April 21st of this year the Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild held their 2nd meeting and the program was entitled "Carolina Girls".  Chris gave a presentation about samplers that were stitched in North and South Carolina and challenged us to find out more information about our town and investigate if there were academies for girls there long ago.  I have never been a history buff.  It was my least favorite class in school.  Perhaps it was due to the fact that the football coaches at my high school always taught history and most of the attention in class went to the pretty cheerleaders.  But, this had me intrigued.  Was there anything like that in my tiny little town or anywhere nearby? After several hours of research I did find pictures online of a very few samplers from North Carolina.  I then decided that I needed to make sure that 100 years from now someone could find a sampler about North Carolina that was stitched by someone in North Carol...

Isn't it fabulous!  Oh, and it was on sale too so I spent all of 2 quarters on it - so I bought 2 rolls.  LOL  It's the little things that make me smile. Hello friends!  Whewie!  Is it evermore windy here in NC today.  I went outside to take a few pictures and it felt like the hair was going to blow right off of my pointy head.   This little guy looked like he was hanging on for dear life.  I just love how he is all hunkered down on the fence. I did a little finishing this morning.  Here is the 4th Lizzie Kate Halloween Rules ornament.  I was supposed to have all 12 of them finished by now.  You know what they say about the best laid plans doncha?  This will be the last one for this year as I am pretty much in full on Christmas stitching mode now.  I'll start back on them in January and hopefully finish them all in 2013.  (I heard you laughing!)
